It started with one teacher. A friend running her own vocal studio had paid for one of the big platforms and it still couldn't do what she needed, so she went back to juggling several tools at once.

Most studio management platforms were designed around a front desk: a receptionist to answer the phone, an office to chase payments, an IT budget to keep it running. Teaching studios don't work that way, whether there's one teacher or twelve. The result is software that's expensive, cluttered, and carries years of baggage, for a job that should feel simple.

We took the opposite approach. We built MyVocalStudio around her studio first, focusing on the parts of the week that were costing her the most time: managing packages, handling cancellations, and chasing payments between lessons. Once it worked for her, other vocal teachers started using it, told us what was missing, and helped shape what came next.

Then we met teachers of other instruments, told them about it, and they asked to use it too. We invited more. Whatever they taught, every one of them had the same problem. Running the business was getting in the way of teaching. It was never just a vocal studio problem.

So MyVocalStudio became Clefsy: one platform for the business of teaching music, with a dedicated experience for every owner, teacher, student and parent.

Plenty of teachers work part-time and have no intention of running anything bigger. They deserve good software, too. So Solo studios are always free, with no per-student or per-lesson fees.

Our job is simple: give music educators the tools to run and grow their teaching business, so the admin never gets in the way of the teaching.
